I think we can all agree the weather's dipped a degree or two. This makes evenings and weekend call for one thing, a sofa, a blanket and a boxset binge.
When styling your blankets and cushions, it’s important to consider textures, colours, shapes and even the season you’re styling. Each of these factors can make or break the whole atmosphere of your living space…
When considering textures, think about the different fabrics and finishes of the furnishings and soft furnishings already in the room. Add wool to your upholstered furniture and blend with silk curtains with cashmere blankets, or style cable knit and faux fur cushions in complimentary tones to create a stylish, welcoming interior.
Colour is one of the biggest ways to add your personality to a room. Soft furnishings are an excellent way to do just that. Experimenting with colour accessories is great because, unlike large furnishings, they’re easy to swap and change if you dislike the colours you’ve chosen.
With shapes, comes sizes, both of which are equally important when considering your finishing touches. Large cushions look lovely as floor cushions as well as adding an extra seat for when you have guests over, and a collection of smaller cushions can make your bed look luxurious and fit for royalty! If you’re wanting a more uniform-decorative display on your bed or sofa, choose one or two different shaped cushions, for example, a large circle cushion and a few rectangle cushions, to create a symmetrical display. Or for a more relaxed, free sense, choose each cushion in different shapes and sizes and strategically arrange them!
As the season's change, colour schemes follow and so should our homes! These little changes will help keep your rooms feeling fresh and in-date year after year.
