Living in Grey
23/04/19

Is there anyone left who hasn’t “Hinched” their home? If there is…what are you waiting for! She is the domestic hero for every home and what’s even better? She’s as obsessed about grey interiors as we are.

Grey looks great in a home. It looks clean, minimal and goes with just about everything. You may be looking for a bright colour scheme, but bright colour schemes can be difficult to style when one shop’s yellow is different to another shop’s yellow.

That’s not to say, though, that you can’t go bright when you go grey – in fact a grey home often looks much better with a pop of colour!

Living in grey looks effortlessly cool and up-to-date, and we have the proof to show you!

As much as we’d love to, this isn’t going to be a full blog dedicated to what’s inside Mrs Hinch’s home – more like taking inspiration from each room and showing you how to style it in different ways.

Let’s start with the kitchen…

The theme throughout the whole of Mrs Hinch’s home is grey and white… everything. Honestly, it’s absolutely stunning.

I think it’s important to keep your cupboards, floor and walls neutral, so the grey can stay! Inject some colour into your kitchen with your tea/coffee/sugar caddies, toaster, kettle and crockery. Literally anything goes with grey, so choosing a colour scheme will be easy-peasy.

Have you checked out our range of serveware? We have some of the brightest and most colourful serving dishes you could image, or for those who prefer something a bit more minimal, we have some gorgeous understated pieces.

Next up: the living room!

Bring character to your living room through rugs and soft furnishings. Just a colourful rug can brighten the room beautifully, but we love a bright cushion at AO Home! Try this cushion

Grey is a colour associated with calm and neutrality, and it’s actually said to bring balance to your mind and emotions. Grey is the perfect colour for your living room for exactly this reason, so I wouldn’t try to take away from it with bright colours and patterns, personally.

Keep the focus on the grey and watch your mind relax as soon as you put your feet up!

Onto the bedroom.

Much like above, you want to keep as much grey as possible in your bedroom. The colour relaxes your mind which is, obviously, what we all want and need in our bedrooms! Throw cushions, curtains and throws are where you should inject some fun into your room, with a hint of yellow, pink, purple or green, your room will remain relaxing while looking fab.

Yellow, pink, purple and green all bring about positive feelings and make you feel good. Following the wise words of Marie Kondo: if you find a shade that makes you feel joy, choose that shade.

Finally, the (best till last) bathroom!

Potentially my favourite room out of Mrs Hinch’s house – the stunning bathroom.

Oh, how I would love a lavatory like hers. Even the bath rack is enviable. Place a few small flowers and scented candles on your rack and you have yourselves a display in the bathroom!

I love that Hinch decorates her bathroom as she would any other room, with the flowers and thoughtful touches (such as the little lantern under the sink), carrying the same gorgeous homely feel throughout the whole house.

Style this with your preferred scented candle and flower, a pop of colour in your towels and bath mat and your bathroom will be just as heavenly as hers!
